OMG Bitches. I am such a fucking retard! So, on Thursday my aunt who works for my insurance company calls me and says yay your insurance is going down because you have a good record. Yay for me! right? WRONG. I am driving to work Friday morning in an 80 kph zone and I go to pass a few cars, and I speed up to 94, and right as I'm getting back into the right lane it turns to a 50 kph zone and I get BUSTAYD by a fucking cop! I got ticketed doing 94 kph in a 50 kph and that ain't good! $335 and 4 demerit points later I'm fucked. I'm calling X-Copper y'all, there is NO way I'm taking this one bending over. Pray for the soul of Tulip the Green Ford Focus! No, pray for the soul of SARAH!

This kind of shit is so not good for a neurotic freak like myself. I will probably be like 50 First Dates having a brand spanking new nervous breakdown every single day when I wake up and remember "oh yeah, I'm screwed!". But, I'm hoping I can somehow get my ass out of this. People, do you have bad ticket stories? Please share if you do! I need the comfort!

Hey Sarah,

Ok, so I live in Ontario too and was pulled over about 2-3 weeks ago. I got busted for doing 84 in a 40. Oh yeah, did I mention it was in a school zone? I was royally fucked. The OPP cop that pulled me over SCREAMED at me for like 1/2 hour saying that I have no soul and he kept asking me how I could be so heartless as to be putting innocent children's lives in danger. So anyway, the cop is OPP, and I guess there is some sorta jurisdiction thing, so he kept calling for a Toronto cop to come to give me a ticket, but this whole thing happened during the Toronto police work-to-rule, strike thing and no cop arrived, so he had to let me go. HA! The funny thing is, I apparently have no soul, but I was on my way to a fundraiser I organized for a children's hospice. Yeah, Im such a terrible person.

Also, I got out of a speeding ticket once. When I was pulled over, I burst into tears and told the cop that I was speeding because I had to get home fast. He asked why, and sobbed "Because I have a bladder infection and I have to get my medication at home!!!" The cop was so freaked out when I started to ramble on to him all about what a bladder infection feels like ("Officer, its like peeing FIRE!") he started to stutter, turn bright red, and told me to go home!

But yeah, I would recommend X-Copper. Usually if its your first offence, it will either be dismissed or lowered. And hey, the cop may not even show to court!

Good Luck!
Mishy

aww thanks for sharing! god, the way they treat you eh? it's like you're an irresponsible fucking loser! he yelled at me to get my license and was like "I don't want to hear your excuses!". ASSHOLE! and i think he was pissed because i was approaching a school zone as well. but yeah my driving record is clean as far as insurance purposes go cause they can't see anything 3 yrs. or older, but would the courts be able to see that i had tickets in the past?Just a little over 3 yrs ago i got busted doing 138 on the QEW Hamilton but i've had nothing since...that has to count for something?! omg seriously this is going to ruin my life until it's settled lol. i am a freak.

Oh speeding tickets. Not a good thing. My boyfriend got a speeding ticket once for going 69 in a 55 mph zone (sorry this miles, I don't know kilometers) and got a $221 ticket. He too was also passing. Down hill.

He fought it, and sadly the asshole cop (2 months later!!--that's when the court date was) did show up and he was not able to get it reduced or dismissed.

BUT, I don't know how it is in Canada, but here in the US he took a defensive driving course and it was not shown on his insurance. So maybe you can take a class or something?

Well anyhoo, good luck with that, it's a real bummer, especially when you don't have the funds.

After 3 years any ticket is cleared off your insurance record. I used to work in an insurance co, and I would run applicant's driving records. Once the 3 year mark passes, any ticket is cleared off. I dont think it can be used against you or anything, but check it out anyway.

thanks guys!
i think the cop will show up. let's just say i'm not really the "cry and act innocent" type and more the "give attitude now cry later" type. so he'll show. but i heard in ontario it can take up to 6 months to get a court date. i'll keep you posted i'm sure! :)

Hey Sarah, my story is from over 10 years ago (here in BC). I was going 80 km in 50 km zone. Didn't get yelled at but did get a ticket. Cost me $175 and I was steamed. But my insurance has been 40% discount for many years now because of a clean driving record but I think that relates to car accidents more than speeding? Don't know, and the rules could be diff per province.

Can a Green Ford Focus actually get up to 94 k? (hehehehehe)

Sarah;

My name is Vanessa. I live in Barrie, and here, if you get a speeding ticket, you can go write a test for like $125 and the ticket *magically* disappears. From what I remember, you get one every 365 days only; and it must be done within 24 hours of the ticket (or something like that). It's a cash grab for the city. Anyways, why not call your local OPP station and find out if you can do that there.

PS: Love your blogs, they're listed under my fav's as "Funny blog girl" ..please don't stop trashing Ashlee Simpson!

By the way, XCopper and all that crap is also a cash grab. You can fight the ticket yourself, and save your dough. Or not.

Actually, I am a third party who expects more from a fellow Canadian, eh? I'm afraid your ego and reality are adisharmonious dichotomy.

thanks Vanessa! I love Barrie, I used to go camping around there all the time! Barrie is a hot city. I definitely will continue to hate on Ashlee Simpson because...well do we need a reason?? hehe

anon 4:39: stop using my blog to comment about all the fun on DListed and start using DListed! People there dish it out and take it with the best of them. If you can't understand that, that's not my problem.

You should have cried when you got pulled over! LOL.

Power to you, read legal stuff about the traffic court rules and ask around. I'd ask my ex, but I never get a straight answer out of him anyways. (He went through Pointts..wasted sooo much money). Let us know if..I mean, when; you win. :P

haha i will!
i am not gonna hire anyone, i can do it by myself and save some cash. apparently they will offer you a lesser charge to plead guilty to before you get to court so half the time you don't have to do a whole song and dance...

Well Sarah this is so last week but i'll put in my two cents worth. I had so many speeding tickets that I LOST MY LICENSE. Yah, can you say l-o-s-e-r? The last cop asked me if I had considered a career in NASCAR. Smart ass. I'm much better now but I did get a ticket last June for speeing.. in a school zone.. and the cop who gave it to me had just started dating my neice but I didn't know that at the time and by the time I found out he could not "make it disappear" but he did get it lowered by half. Maybe my luck is changing? Let us know how it works out for you sweetie. Sending Happy Thoughts your way on this dreary Monday in the States
